Briefing: Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS) – Claire’s Law

This briefing will give you an introduction to the Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DS DAS) - also known as Claire’s Law – with time for questions.

DS DAS gives people the right to ask about the background of their partner. It allows concerned relatives and friends the right to ask if someone’s partner has been abusive in the past. It also gives Police Scotland the power to tell people that they may be at risk, even if it is not asked for.

This session is delivered by Police Scotland. It is open to all agencies that work with or support potential survivors of domestic abuse in East Lothian and Midlothian.

The briefing will give you an understanding of:

  • The history of DS DAS (Claire's Law) and how it came about

  • The DS DAS process from start to finish

  • What you can do to help i.e. when and how to submit an application.

Who is this learning for?

This session is open to all staff and volunteers who work with, or support adults and families affected by domestic abuse in East Lothian and Midlothian.

Visit the DS DAS webpage if you’d like to look before the session
