At the end of this course the delegates should be able to spot common mental health symptoms in others (and themselves), what to do until professional help is available, know about the recovery from mental ill health, know about the links between alcohol and drug abuse and mental health and to understand the importance of good listening skills.
After the success of CAPS first course in February this year, the Oor Mad History project at CAPS Independent Advocacy is holding another free five-week community Mad Studies course of learning, discussion and community building based in the University of Edinburgh. The course will lead participants through five weeks focusing on different topics relating to madness, mad history, activism and advocacy. We will also connect and learn from each other through discussion questions and interactive group work.
This immersive two-day workshop equips participants with essential skills to identify individuals at risk of suicide and effectively intervene. Through engaging, hands-on practice, attendees will learn to assess risk, facilitate open conversations, and create safety plans that provide meaningful support to those experiencing at risk of suicide.
