EMPPO: What can we learn about gender-based abuse from young people?

Gender-based abuse has a profound and multifaceted impact on young people, shaping their mental health, relationships and societal attitudes. Join us for an online learning event to launch this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign which will focus on the impact of gender-based abuse on young people and the key things they are telling us.

Nancy Lombard, Professor in Sociology and Social Policy at Glasgow Caledonian University will present “We didn’t need Adolescence to tell us that – masculinities, gender and violence”. Nancy is a recognised authority on the analysis of children’s understanding of violence against women. She will speak about her research on online abuse, which has a specific focus on young people.

We will then hear from East and Midlothian Women’s Aid Young Persons’ Shadow Board who will give us some key messages about violence against women and girls, followed by some examples of good practice from some local services.

Join the event live on the 25th
