The course will raise awareness and support professionals and carers to understand how children and young people become involved in child sexual exploitation (CSE). It aims to promote an understanding of the impact, the child/young person’s experiences and how best to respond and protect those affected.
Who is this learning for?
This training is essential learning for anyone who is in contact with children, adults and families in the course of their work in East Lothian or Midlothian, either paid or voluntary.
Are there any pre-requisites for attending this course?
Applicants must have previously completed Level 2 Child Protection Awareness Raising and Response training (either through Learnpro, or a virtual or face-to-face session).
What are the learning outcomes?
Be able to explain the key terminology and definitions in relation to CSE
Have an understanding of models of CSE
Have an understanding of risks and vulnerabilities of CSE (including on-line exploitation)
Be aware of strategies available to support young people affected by CSE
Have an understanding of grooming and patterns of control
Be able to recognise the importance of information sharing and multi-agency partnership in responding to children and young people
