Have Your Say: East Lothian Participation & Engagement Strategy Discussion [In Person]

  • Volunteer Centre East Lothian 56 High Street Tranent, Scotland, EH33 1HH United Kingdom (map)

Volunteer Centre East Lothian (VCEL) is hosting a discussion session on East Lothian’s draft Participation and Engagement Strategy.

This strategy focuses on how the East Lothian Partnership listens to communities and involves people in decisions. Before the strategy is finalised, we want to ensure it reflects the views of community groups, voluntary organisations, and the people they support.

The session is an opportunity to share experiences, highlight barriers, and help shape a fair and inclusive approach to community participation across East Lothian.

The discussion will also inform the Integrated Impact Assessment, which looks at whether the strategy works fairly for different groups and communities.

What we’ll discuss

  • What meaningful participation should look like

  • Who is least likely to be heard

  • What stops people from taking part

  • What support communities and organisations need

  • The role of VCEL and the third sector

  • How people should be told what changed after they shared their views

Access and support

We want everyone to be able to take part. Please let us know if you need any support, including:

  • Accessible information

  • Transport support

  • BSL

  • Interpretation

  • Any other adjustments
