From 1 November 2025, the new Code of Fundraising Practice (the code) comes into effect. To help you and your organisation prepare, the Fundraising Regulator (FR) is hosting a free, interactive webinar in mid-October.
This practical one-hour session will use live polls and interactive questions to support understanding of key parts of the code. Together, FR will talk through the answers with you and share practical insights on applying the rules in day-to-day fundraising.
FR will also be explaining how to use their new guidance, including applied examples to show how it can support fundraisers in practice.
Building on the strong engagement at code events earlier this year, this webinar is a chance to grow your confidence in a focused and applied way – and to put your questions directly to our team.
The new Fundraising Code of Practice, which sets the standards for fundraising carried out by and on behalf of charitable, philanthropic and benevolent organisations in the UK, comes into force on 1 November 2025 and has application for organisations in Scotland as well as the rest of the UK.
Background
You may be aware that fundraising regulation in Scotland is different to the system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Fundraising by charities only registered in Scotland is subject to Scottish charity law and the Scottish system of self-regulated fundraising. The Chartered Institute of Fundraising in Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and the Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel to build public confidence and ensure consistent fundraising standards.
The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) is the independent regulator and registrar for over 24,000 Scottish charities including community groups, religious charities, schools, universities, grant-giving charities and major care providers.
The Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel deals with fundraising complaints relating to Scottish registered charities and promotes compliance with the Code of Fundraising Practice. The Code sets the standards that apply to fundraising carried out by all charitable institutions and third-party fundraisers in the UK. Read more from OSCR about revised Code.
