PVG Scheme Update – Check Your Contact Details

Important update for PVG scheme members
Disclosure Scotland is asking all PVG scheme members to ensure their contact details are up to date, particularly their email address.

If you have not yet moved to the new five-year PVG membership, Disclosure Scotland will contact you using the email they have on record. If they do not have your details, they may contact your organisation instead.
What you need to do:
Subject: Email address update
Include:
•    Your name
•    Date of birth
•    PVG scheme number
•    Current email address

If you don’t have an email address, you can provide alternative contact details by calling 03000 200040.

Sharing A Story CIC – Service Update

After seven years of delivering creative workshops across East Lothian, Sharing A Story CIC has announced it will be winding down.
Founded in 2019, the organisation worked with communities, partners and creatives to deliver meaningful projects locally, despite operating without core funding.
The decision reflects the increasing challenges facing small creative organisations, with thanks shared to all participants, partners, freelancers and supporters who have been part of the journey.

VOLUNTEER INSIGHTS

East Lothian Foodbank Volunteers Recognised

Volunteers at East Lothian Foodbank have been recognised as Community Champions, highlighting the essential role they play in supporting people across the county.
More than 120 volunteers contribute their time to keep the service running, collectively delivering thousands of hours of support each year. Their efforts have helped provide food and assistance to thousands of individuals and families facing hardship locally.
This recognition reflects the dedication, compassion and teamwork of volunteers, whose contribution continues to make a significant difference to communities across East Lothian.

Corra Foundation Funding

Corra Foundation offers a range of funding programmes for community groups, charities and voluntary organisations across Scotland, supporting work that improves lives and strengthens communities.
Funding priorities include areas such as mental health and wellbeing, children and families, tackling poverty, and grassroots community action. There are both open funds and targeted programmes available throughout the year.

No One Left Behind Quick Grants

Funding available for local employability projects
Grants of up to £5,000 are available through the No One Left Behind Quick Grants programme to support organisations in East Lothian.
Funding is aimed at projects supporting young people and adults (16+) who are not currently in a positive destination, helping them take early steps towards employment and training.

  • Open to East Lothian organisations

  • Projects must be completed by 31 March 2027

Free Resources for Coaches & Clubs

Scottish Disability Sport has developed a range of free eLearning resources to help clubs and coaches build confidence and deliver inclusive practice.
The resources are available online via Brightspace and are suitable for anyone aged 14+, whether you’re new to inclusive sport or looking to develop your skills.
Topics include:

  • Communication and inclusion models

  • Supporting participants and removing barriers

ASIST Suicide Intervention Training – Funded Places Available

EnvironMentalHealth CIC are delighted to offer funded spaces on our ASIST ((Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) 2 day workshop in partnership with @Volunteer Centre East Lothian and funded by the East Lothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. 
These spaces are available to anyone working or volunteering in the East Lothian area.
The training will take place on the 15th & 16th July 2026 (9.30 – 4.30 ) at The Pennypit Family and Learning Centre, Double Dykes, Rope Walk, Prestonpans EH32 9BN.
ASIST is a structured, evidence-based workshop designed to equip participants with the skills to recognise signs of suicide risk, engage in supportive and effective conversations, and assist in developing a plan to help keep someone safe.
The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to strengthen their ability to support others and contribute to a safer, more responsive community. We encourage you to join us for this valuable professional development opportunity.
