MV Awards - Information for Voluntary Organisations
Do you have Young Volunteers aged between 16-25?
Do you value their contribution greatly and wish it could be recognised more?
If so, then think about offering them the chance to achieve the

MV Award, a national scheme to record and recognise volunteering achievement by Young People
The MV Awards are open to all 16-25 year old volunteers in Scotland with Awards presented at three separate levels
FIFTY HOURS AWARD
ONE HUNDRED HOURS AWARD
TWO HUNDRED HOURS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
The MV Awards are endorsed by the Scottish Government and are a positive recognition of young volunteers and their achievements.
As well as recognising volunteering commitment the MV Awards are a valuable addition to CVs.
Relaunch of MV in 2005 with Karen Dunbar
Formally known as the Millennium Volunteer Programme, the MV Awards were relaunched in October 2005 with a range of improvements.
The MV Awards are designed to provide official recognition for volunteers aged 16-25 living in Scotland. Certificates are given after volunteers have completed 50, 100 and 200 hours of voluntary work. The 200 hour Award of Excellence is signed by Alex Salmond, the First Minister.
Volunteers can even get MV Award recognition for volunteering that they have already done. Any volunteering undertaken in the two years prior to registering countstoward the Award provided the volunteer was between 16 and 25 when the work was done and a written record of hours can be produced.
WHATS INVOLVED FOR ORGANISATIONS?
Organisations or projects sign up for free to be MV Award providers; they undertake to keep a register of young people signing up for the Award and verify that the young people have completed the number of volunteering hours necessary. They then get in touch with the local volunteer centre to request Awards & certificates
